Innovative Solar Storage Technologies Conquer the Market – Evolution Instead of Revolution

The smarter E Podcast Episode 42 | March 18, 2021 | Language: German

The home storage market is developing splendidly. The number of solar power storage units grew by around 50 percent for the third year in a row. In total, an estimated 88,000 new storage units were added in Germany last year, according to the German Solar Industry Association (BSW). The BSW even expects further market growth, and further expansion is also urgently needed, according to the industry association.

The demand: A successful energy transition needs a sevenfold increase in battery storage capacity by 2030 as a necessary contribution to balancing short-term fluctuations in generation. But what are the concrete measures to achieve the goals that have been set? And what technical trends are we currently seeing in the home storage sector?

We talk about this with Carsten Körnig, CEO of BSW, and Stefan Krokowski, Head of Marketing & Sales at LG Energy Solution.

About Carsten Körnig and the BSW

Carsten Körnig, General Manager of the German Solar Industry Association (BSW)

The BSW - Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft e.V. (German Solar Industry Association), together with its more than 500 member companies, is strongly committed to an increased expansion of solar energy and solar storage in Germany and is currently fighting, among other things, to turn the EEG into a solar acceleration law and to prevent new market barriers.

All important companies in the solar industry - from raw material suppliers and production companies, to tradesmen, operating companies, planners and financiers - rely on the expertise and communication skills of the German Solar Industry Association. Carsten Körnig is the managing director of the BSW and is responsible, among other things, for the policy and technology areas of competence and the association's public relations work.
